Every summer solstice, communities around the world come alive with sound during Make Music Day—a global celebration of music in all its forms. This year, Savannah Guitar Lutherie is joining the movement with a special event that blends free gear, live music, and hometown hospitality.
We’re proud to partner with Elixir Strings as part of the national String Together campaign, designed to support local music stores, empower guitarists, and bring people together through song. Join us on Saturday, June 21st for a one-of-a-kind event featuring free restringing, a community bluegrass jam, and a potluck feast open to all.
🎸 Free Restringing for the First 12 Guests
Thanks to Elixir Strings, we’ll be offering free string installation for the first 12 players who bring in their acoustic guitar. We’ll provide and install your new strings—just show up early and sign in to claim your spot.
This is a great opportunity to refresh your instrument and hang out while it gets tuned up by our skilled luthiers.
🪕 Open Bluegrass Pick
Our Saturday bluegrass pick is moving into the spotlight! Whether you’re a regular or just curious, this open jam is the perfect chance to play, sing, or just soak in the sound. All levels welcome. Bring your instrument and gather in the circle—we’ll be picking tunes from noon until the last note rings.
🧺 Community Potluck
We’re inviting all guests to contribute to a shared table of food and fellowship. Bring a dish, snack, or dessert to pass around. We’ll provide drinks and some basics to get things going. It’s the kind of gathering that makes our music community feel like family.

This event will be part of our new Harmon eSessions livestream project. We’ll capture moments from the day to share online and help inspire others to join the fun next year. Your participation helps us document and grow the impact of grassroots music events like this one.
